Beware Lt. Governor Mark Robinson’s Extreme Anti–Public School Views
The long history of anti–public education policy an rhetoric coming from Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson is worth sharing among NCAE members and all supporters of public education. Why? Well, in addition to being the first in the line of succession to Governor, Mark Robinson is the President of the N.C. Senate, a member of the State Board of Education, and a current candidate to be the next Governor of North Carolina.
In July 2023, Robinson railed against public schools and encouraged that parents take their kids out of public schools, while suggesting educators are “wicked people.” Robinson said:
“We’re gonna work like heck in Raleigh to make sure these schools get straightened out, but until they do, I’m gonna tell you what you need to do. If they won’t do right, you need to come out from among them. Make your own school. make it as the church house. Make it at your house. Make it at the clubhouse. make it at the VFW. Make it wherever you can. Do not turn your children over to these wicked people.”
This isn’t the first time Robinson has described educators as “wicked.” In 2018, he posted this shocking Facebook rant filled with hatred and lies about public schools:
