North Carolina’s Anti-Science Lt. Gov. Running to Reshape Public Education
Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson has a long history of anti-education rhetoric. Not only did Robinson call teachers “wicked people,” but he believes elementary school students shouldn’t learn science and social studies.
Sound too crazy to be real? See for yourself, Robinson wrote it down in his book:
Why is this dangerous?
Science teaches our children the way the world works by engaging their natural curiosity using facts and critical thinking.
Social studies teaches our children about their communities and the diverse communities around them. It helps children understand the common human elements and how we share space in the world.
This is dangerous, because Robinson, the same guy that questioned the moon landing, believes we should limit what our children learn!
He wants to reshape public education. He wants to abolish the State Board of Education and consolidate power, giving the state legislature and himself, as governor, more power over public schools.
In his own words, he looks forward to the day when traditional public schools become a “thing of the past.”
