The NCAE Great Public Schools Fund Endorses Four Pro–Public Education Statewide Candidates

Today, the NCAE Great Public Schools Fund proudly announced its endorsements of four pro-public education statewide candidates. These candidates earned NCAE’s endorsement through their experience, connection with our members, and commitment to public school workers and students. The NCAE Great Public Schools Fund endorsed Rachel Hunt for Lieutenant Governor, Jeff Jackson for Attorney General, Jessica Holmes for State Auditor, and Braxton Winston for Commissioner of Labor. 

“We are thrilled to support such exceptional people for these critical statewide positions,” said NCAE President Tamika Walker Kelly. “With these candidates, North Carolina’s public-school students and employees are in good hands.”

“I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of the North Carolina Association of Educators, a testament to our shared dedication to strengthening public education,” said Rachel Hunt. “As Lt. Governor, I look forward to working with the NCAE to ensure that our public schools receive the support they need to thrive and provide a bright future for our communities."

“My historic candidacy and service as North Carolina's State Auditor is a reflection of the quality of educators in the Pender County School System,” said Jessica Holmes. “I am a testament that receiving a quality education and investing in schools is indeed the great equalizer. That's why I am so honored to have the support of our state's largest education advocacy organization and I remain diligently committed to ensuring that all students receive a sound basic education.” 

“As the son and grandson of retired public-school teachers I am grateful for the support of NCAE,” said Braxton Winston. “I understand the impact all educators—teachers, cafeteria workers, guidance counselors, and more—had on molding my ability to take on the world. Through my work in CMS schools with Delaware College Scholars, I am especially cognoscente that our educators need strong advocates in Raleigh and around the state. I am excited to partner with NCAE on the campaign trail and over the following four years as their candidate for NC Commissioner of Labor.
